| Summary | The article focuses on activities of Aleksandr Aleksandrovich Inostrancev - corresponding member of Petersburg Academy of Sciences, professor, founder of Geological Department, Geological Museum and Geological Office of St. Petersburg University. The considerable part of creative career of A. A. Inostrancev, connected with Saint-Petersburg University, is covered in the protocols of sessions of St. Petersburg University Council. The life of Saint-Petersburg University in 19th century is reflected in these protocols, with the development of Geological Offi ce being demonstrated. The article evaluates the activities of A. A. Inostrancev given by D. I. Mendeleev who Inostrancev was associated with and worked. The article presents the extracts from these protocols accompanied by the commentary of the authors | ||
