Summary The due to an increasing role of towns in development of regions of Ukraine in a context of current social and economic reforms there is a necessity of their comprehensive study. Towns, local organizing centers, can influence economic and social wellbeing of local administrative regions and, respectively, level and quality of life of people. Particular scientific and practical interest should be paid to the towns of Ukrainian Black Sea Coast - the region with an ancient history. The towns, which appeared during different historical eras, preserve cultural heritage of the of genetic typology, with its value for evaluating of the past and forecasting the future being shown. The brief description of the towns of each genetic type is given.
