Summary Several years ago the Russian higher institutions adopted the two-level-system, bachelor and master. Following these innovations the German language teaching and a status of German at the not linguistic faculties have also considerably changed. It has become one of many facultative disciplines. In the report the newly established system with its advantages and disadvantages is to be discussed being illustrated by the example of Saint Petersburg State University faculty of economics.
