Summary | The following article represents an attempt to describe the range of nominal inflectional categories which are typical to noun (substantive categories) in the Old Uighur. Based on the material of the language, it distinguishes five substantive inflectional categories, namely: category of plurality (-lar), category of possession (-(y)m,-?, -(s)y, -(y)myz, -(y)?yz(lar), -lary (-sy)), category of declension (represented by seven cases: genitive((-n)y?), accusative ((-y)?, -ny, (-y)n, in rare cases -а?;), dative ((-q)a), locative ((-d)a), ablative (-dyn, -tyn), instrumental (-yn), equative(-ca), directive (-?aru)), category of nominal predicate (stem + man, stem + san, stem + biz, stem + siz, stem + ol), category of secondary representation (hypostatization) (-ki). | ||
