Summary This paper attempts to bring the concept of classical tradition for the narrow scope of a warrant of style, understand the underlying common origins of traditional architecture and determine the cause of the obvious, in my opinion, the antagonism between classical and modernist architecture. Classical (traditional) architecture is based entirely on the idea of religious dominance in the outlook of traditional societies. Here lie the origins of its morphogenesis, planning, town planning principles. With all the differences existing in parallel or successive denominations, the center of gravity of the consciousness of the ancient lay outside the household material plane of existence. Vitality and by and large there is no alternative an order tradition speaks not only of its powerful artistic potential, but that is the end of the XIX century in the society finally formed the fundamental ideas of the new world. It was at this time there was a revolutionary shift from traditional religious model of the universe to a completely new materialistic. The architecture is reflected in the appearance (through an intermediate stage art nouveau) fundamentally new style (or rather superstyle) avangard-modernism. It is atheistic momentum to its priority function of the material in front of all the other that became the main source of modernist shaping and planning at all levels.
Keywords tradition, architecture, style, morphogenesis, the religious idea, God, truth, world view, beauty, aesthetics, materialism.
