Summary | The article studies the history of restoration of artistic furniture saved after the fire in Winter Palace in 1837. The author shows a lot of archives documents which have not yet been published. These documents are the only source of information on the history of this subject. The documents contain information about the appearance of the pieces of palace furniture which were made before 1837 and the restoration works with them. Moreover, the author introduces the information about the materials used in both the original version of the piece and in its subsequent alterations. Nowadays the absence of the information about the pieces restoration through time is the essential problem in carrying out the scientific restoration of the monuments. | ||
