Summary The article observes theology of religions as a specific branch of theology, its background as well as development of its basic positions: exclusivism, inclusivism, pluralism. Besides, it pays specific attention to the alternative ways of classification and correlation between theology of religions and interreligious dialogue. Due to institutionalization of the theology of religions in XX century, the author proposes to take a look at the concept of proto-theology of religions, where different types of attitude toward people of the Other faith were putted into threefold model. Also, he proposes to illustrate different types of attitude toward non-Christian religions at the time of early Christianity, using examples of Augustine of Hippo and Justin, the Martyr. Moreover, the author tries to review the theology of religions in the context of its possible interchangeability with confessional study of religions and possibility of incorporation of the theology of religions into Eastern Orthodox Churchs theology.
Keywords theology of religions, exclusivism, inclusivism, pluralism, christocentrism, ecclesiocentrism, theocentrism, interreligious relations, interreligious dialogue, confessional study of religions.
