Summary The objective of the research is to work out the Russian-language version of Aphasic Depression Rating Scale (ADRS). Cultural and linguistic adaptation of the questionnaire was conducted according to international requirements. The following process was performed: independent forward and backward translations, expert committee review of the text, formation of a fi nal Russian-language version of the questionnaire. The reliability and validity of the ADRS were estimated in 45 patients with subacute stroke and aphasia aged 42 to 87 years (68,1110,86). Evaluation of reliability was conducted by the test-retest method and study of the internal consistency index (Cronbach-alpha coeffi cient). The construct validity was evaluated by using correlation analysis between ADRS and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS). Th e results of the research were as following: acceptable value of Cronbachs coefficient (? = 0,76) and high coefficient of retesting reliability ( r = 0,75, p < 0,001) were obtained in assessing the test reliability. There were high correlations of ADRS and HDRS values ( r = 0,71, < 0,05). The research fi ndings confirmed good psychometric properties of the Russian-language version ADRS. Th e developed version of the questionnaire is a reliable and valid detection tool for depression in patients with aphasia and it may be used in scientific and clinical research. The study was approved by Professor C. Benaim, the author of the ADRS.
