Summary The aim of the study is to identify the ethnic characteristics of the system of attitude and personality traits of students of Uzbek and Russian ethnic groups, the study involves 176 people - representatives of Russian and Uzbek nationality at the age of 19-23 years (mean age - 21,5 years). There were: 73 representatives of Russian ethnicity (30 men and 43 women), students of St. Petersburg and Tomsk State Universities, and 103 representatives of the Uzbek ethnic group (54 men and 49 women), students of the Tashkent State Economic University. The research used a test �Completion of proposals�, created by D. M. Sachs and S. Levy (SSCT) and �Freiburg personality questionnaire� FPI (Form B), created by German psychologists I. Farenberg, H. Zargh, R. Gampel. The work defines the factor structure of relations and analyzes individual traits and the system of attitude towards a society. Both groups feature emotional discomfort and feelings associated primarily with current psychological problems: guilt feelings, fear, attitude towards family, attitude towards heterosexual relationship, attitude towards own abilities. It draws conclusions about the general and specific characteristics of the members of the Russian and Uzbek ethnic groups. Russian and Uzbek youth aim at personal growth and self-realisation.
