Summary This work describes the experience of using mental maps. It is based on interpretation of mental maps as image of an area, made at the request of the informer. Student card content is classified by the type of activity and related urban spaces, namely: place of residence, place of study/work, place of entertainment. The informants used methods of graphic representation of classified maps of abstract and concrete type. It shows how life world of a informant is peculiarly intertwined, his/her personal vision, cultural interaction in a certain social group.
